Waterford Hotel Group Selected to Operate Two Trees Inn as Property Prepares for Spring 2026 Reopening

December 17, 2025

Waterford, CT – The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is set to reopen the Two Trees Inn in Ledyard, CT., with the property scheduled to resume operations in spring 2026.

The hotel—which will be managed by Waterford Hotel Group—has been closed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally built in 1993, the hotel is located near Foxwoods Resort Casino, Lake of Isles and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.

“This appointment represents Waterford’s continued growth in the independent property sector and our commitment to delivering unique and enjoyable guest experiences,” Michael Heaton, President of Waterford Hotel Group, said in a statement. “With our deep roots in southeastern Connecticut and nearly four decades of experience in the region, we are especially proud to support this exciting reopening alongside the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.”

“Waterford Hotel Group has been a valued partner to our region for many years, and we are pleased to work with them on the reopening of Two Trees Inn,” said Rodney Butler, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

The southeastern Connecticut property is close to Lantern Hill trails, a landscaped courtyard and amenities including an indoor pool, hot tub and fitness center. In advance of the reopening, Waterford Hotel Group will oversee pre-opening activities, including staffing, training and operational planning.
