WINDSOR LOCKS, CT (August 9, 2016) — On July 27, John Loyacano, General Manager of the Sheraton Hartford Hotel at Bradley International Airport, participated in the Shatterproof Challenge. The challenge required participants to raise money for the chance to rappel down the 22-story Hilton Hartford in Connecticut. The over $600 raised by Loyacano added to the more than $250,000 that was raised at the event. Waterford Group Charitable Foundation, an extension of one of the nation’s top hotel and convention center management companies, Waterford Hotel Group, co-partnered with Shatterproof for the third year on the Hartford challenge. Shatterproof is a national organization committed to protecting children from developing addiction to alcohol or other drugs and ending the stigma and suffering of those affected by this disease.

“I was so excited to support Shatterproof in their efforts to raise awareness and fight addiction as well as support the Waterford Group Charitable Foundation’s mission of supporting the communities in which our associates live and work,” commented Loyacano.

A total of more than 160 individuals accepted the Shatterproof Challenge and rappelled down the Hilton Hartford. The event, in addition to raising vital funds to prevent and treat addiction, rose awareness to breakdown the stigma about the disease. The Shatterproof Challenge is currently supporting key addiction policy initiatives at the federal and state levels and educating Americans through events, public service announcements and digital and social media.

About the Sheraton Hartford Hotel at Bradley Airport
The Sheraton Hartford Hotel is located inside the Bradley Airport complex, with an elevator from the indoor, underground 300-car parking garage providing direct access to the hotel and Bradley International Airport terminals. The Sheraton has been renovated to include new bedding, bathrooms and amenities. On-site amenities of the 10-story hotel include a Concierge Floor and lounge, an indoor swimming pool and complete exercise facility, high speed Internet access, fifteen meeting rooms, a full-service restaurant, lounge, Starbucks Cafe and grand ballroom to accommodate meeting and banquet functions up to 400 people.
