GETTYSBURG, PA (January 14, 2016) – The historic Gettysburg Hotel was recently selected as a 2016 winner in The Knot Best of Weddings, an award chosen annually by real couples, their families and wedding guests using the wedding planning source. The Gettysburg Hotel was recognized as a top wedding venue. The award is based on a sample of over one million actual reviews assessed by The Knot to determine the best. Only 2% of the 250,000 local wedding professionals listed on the site received the award this year, ranging from venues, musicians, florists, and photographers. This is the 10th year that The Knot has awarded this prestigious acknowledgement and the Gettysburg Hotel has received this recognition several times.

Established in 1797, the 119-room hotel is located on Lincoln Square and is owned by Gettysburg College. Waterford Hotel Group, a national hotel and convention center management firm, manages the property. The Grand Ballroom, originally built in 1814 as the Gettysburg National Bank, features 28-foot hand-painted ceilings, inlaid with gold, green and burgundy colors, accentuated with sweeping velvet evergreen draperies and 19th century chandeliers and sconces. The former bank’s vault is used for private dining experiences, rehearsal dinners and as a private space to host gifts during events.
